Skydiving Aircraft

Over the years of serving the Carolinas, we've worked on making our facility bigger and better, including additions to our skydiving aircraft!

The PAC 750 XL Skydiving Plane

The PAC 750 XL carries up to 17 jumpers to altitude in under 15 minutes and is the newest member of the Piedmont Fleet. As we’ve grown into a bigger and better skydiving facility over the years of serving Charlotte, Greensboro, the Carolinas and surrounding areas, we’ve found the need to improve our fleet, and this aircraft does just that!

This skydiving plane can reach a maximum speed of 196mph, has an average cruise speed of 160mph, and has an average climbing speed of about 100mph. It has an impressive rate of climb up to 2,000 ft per minute and can take up to 17 parachutists to altitude in under 15 minutes. The PAC can easily reach an altitude of 20,000 feet, which makes it the perfect plane for our high altitude skydives, which reach an altitude of around 17,500 feet.

The King Air A90

Piedmont Skydiving’s King Air A90 was our very first turbine aircraft and is known as “Royal Faithful” around the dropzone. Slightly smaller than the PAC750, this plane is still a favorite of both experienced and tandem skydivers. Its simple and elegant design also makes it a beautiful sight in the sky.

This multi-engine turbine aircraft can carry 13 jumpers to altitude in only about 10 minutes. The King Air’s maximum speed is about 290mph and can climb at a rate over 2,000ft per minute!

It was my first time jumping and I had Darcy K. For my instructor and he was amazing. He calmed me at every step, he explained what was going on and anytime I was starting to get nervous he would ease me. He was just the best, I think he made 75% out of 100% of my visit successful (the other 25% was just the awe of it all). He even showed me how the parachute works; I say all this to say I can’t wait for my next jump and I went into this afraid of heights. ASK FOR DARCY!!

I would assume most are nervous walking up to sign into sky diving. Once my husband and I arrived that nervous feeling went away. The people at Piedmont Sky Diving are welcoming and made us feel at ease. Dererk, my instructor, was so fun to work with! If you are thinking about sky diving, do it with this great group of people! You will not be disappointed! My husband and I enjoyed our experience so much we went ahead and paid to do it again. Who know, we may go ahead and work to get licensed!

Had my first skydiving experience here two weeks ago, went back yesterday for my second jump and have already purchased my third. I cannot recommended Piedmont Skydiving highly enough. Easy to get to (about 50 min from downtown Greensboro). And the folks working there are awesome..from check in to the instructors. They are friendly, knowledgeable and do an excellent job of making something a little scary be A LOT of fun. Suggestions for first timers - eat (seriously, have something in your tummy), take a gatorade type beverage for after, and do the photo or video package, if possible.
