Can You Take A Picture While Skydiving? 

Yes – taking photos skydiving is totally possible! Skydive pictures are typically taken with a DSLR camera or (even more commonly) with an action camera, like a GoPro or Insta360. Does this mean that if you personally own an action camera that you can bring it? Nope. You’re allowed to take as many photos as you’d like while on the ground, but skydiving centers use their gear (and their gear only) when jumping. 

Skydiving cameras are either mounted to the helmet or hand of the skydiver. Helmet-mounted cameras allow the skydiver to capture others in freefall. Hand (or even foot!) mounted cameras allow the skydiver to focus on their own face and body! 

How to Get Good Skydiving Pictures

A good skydiving photo is one where you’re having the time of your life and living in the moment of the thrill, not when your face is picture perfect like a strategically-posed selfie.

Here are our best tips for the best skydiving pics: 

• Be yourself.
  If you dig no makeup and sweat pants, then do you! Don’t wear something uncomfortable on the day of your skydive just to appeal to the camera. Be authentic! 
• Smile.
  If you are worried about your face skin looking a bit flappy in freefall, give yourself some grace – you’re falling at 120 mph! But, smiling can help keep things in place a bit. When we smile, our facial muscles tense up and this counteracts the effects of the wind rushing by.
• Get color creative.
  Wear something that will help you stand out against the blue sky without distracting from your smiling face! Consider all black or something brightly colored. 
• Handle your hair.
  Braid or tie back long hair and long beards so it’s not in your face or (obstructing your instructor’s line of sight!).
• Relax.
  Skydiving photos do a great job of capturing the vibes, and if you’re stressed about getting that perfect shot, it will be written all over your face in your photos. Take a deep breath, be in the moment, and accept that the photos will be candid.

Can You Get the Picture Video Package the Day of Skydiving?

We will always suggest you book in advance to ensure availability and a smoother experience in the event of high-demand. However, many of our packages are able to add on day-of and we will do everything we can to accommodate our guests!

Is the sky blue? YES, getting photos or video of your skydiving experience is SO worth it! Think of it this way … skydiving is something you may only do once (unless you fall in love with it like all of us did). Other monumental, one-time experiences, like weddings, birthdays, graduations, engagements, and retirements, are very deliberately captured on film, so why wouldn’t your first (and maybe only) skydive be?
